(The Coral Gables restaurant group resurrects the popular steakhouse Hereford Grill while building a 9,000-square-foot Italian marketplace.)
As someone who’s always enjoyed happy hour at Hereford Grill, I’m thrilled to share that the Coral Gables restaurant group is bringing this iconic steakhouse back to life – and there’s even more to look forward to.
The team behind Zucca, the beloved Italian spot in Coral Gables, is making a big splash with two new ventures set to open in early 2025. This expansion marks a major move for Da Silva Hospitality, a renowned name in South Florida’s dining scene. One of these exciting projects is the return of Hereford Grill, a classic steakhouse that was a go-to for celebrities and locals alike before it closed in 2021 due to the pandemic. After 25 successful years, it’s making its comeback at its original location at 782 NW 42nd Avenue, refreshed with a modern design and menu.
The new Hereford Grill will maintain its legacy of serving prime cuts while introducing an exciting fusion of Latin American, Caribbean, and Mediterranean flavors. With 250 seats, the steakhouse will offer indoor and outdoor dining areas, plus a private dining room for special events. “We aren’t abandoning tradition here, merely reinventing it,” said owner Erasmo Da Silva, who developed the new vision for Hereford Grill after touring some of Buenos Aires' most revered steakhouses.
In addition to Hereford Grill, Da Silva Hospitality is unveiling Zuccaly, an ambitious 9,000-square-foot Italian food hall located at The Plaza at Coral Gables. This Italian marketplace will feature six dining concepts, including a pasta and risotto counter, a wood-fired pizzeria named LaBiga, a grill and seafood section, and Portavia—a market offering both dine-in and takeout options. With seating for 190, Zuccaly’s bar program will spotlight Italian wines, craft beers, and signature cocktails, promising a unique and authentic Italian experience.
Da Silva Hospitality, which has deep roots dating back more than seven decades in Venezuela, operates multiple restaurants and hotels across Venezuela and Portugal. Its U.S. debut came with Zucca in 2017, and now, these two new spots are set to elevate the Coral Gables dining scene in 2025. I, for one, can’t wait to return to Hereford Grill for those unforgettable happy hours, and I’m equally excited to explore the diverse flavors Zuccaly will bring to our community.
Da Silva team is poised to bring even more culinary excitement to South Florida’s dining landscape.
