Nestled in the heart of Miami, Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart stands as a beacon of academic and spiritual distinction. As the only Catholic, all-girls Montessori-3 through Grade 12 college preparatory school in Florida, Carrollton is more than an educational institution; it’s a transformative community where young women thrive. Rooted in the global Sacred Heart tradition, Carrollton's mission fosters active faith, intellectual excellence, and a commitment to social awareness within a nurturing environment of wise freedom and unity.
At Carrollton, students discover their potential across academic, artistic, and athletic fields. With a diverse student body representing 36 countries, Carrollton mirrors Miami’s vibrant multicultural landscape.
By the Numbers:
This supportive community creates opportunities for students to explore their interests, develop talents, and cultivate passions, ensuring holistic growth intellectually, spiritually, and personally.
Carrollton’s roots trace back to 1961, a pivotal year marked by the migration of the Religious of the Sacred Heart to Miami. Facing political upheaval in Cuba, Sacred Heart educators relocated, bringing with them a vision for Catholic education inspired by their global network. Bishop Coleman Carroll of the newly established Archdiocese of Miami invited the Society of the Sacred Heart to establish a school, and on July 13, 1961, the Society’s Mother House in Rome gave its blessing: “Oui.”
Since then, Carrollton has grown alongside Miami, evolving from its original estate home, El Jardin, to include two campuses—Barat and Duchesne—featuring state-of-the-art facilities like science labs, wellness centers, and the recently completed Convocation Center.
At Carrollton, students flourish in an all-girls environment tailored to inspire confidence, leadership, and academic achievement. This tradition of excellence dates back over two centuries to the founding of the first Sacred Heart School in Amiens, France, in 1801.
A growing body of research underscores the transformative impact of single-gender schooling for young women. Girls’ schools, like Carrollton, create a focused, empowering environment that prepares students for lifelong success.
Key Advantages:
At Carrollton, education is guided by the Goals of Sacred Heart Education, which instill values that resonate far beyond the classroom.
These goals ensure that Carrollton students not only excel academically but also grow into compassionate, globally minded leaders who strive to make a positive impact.
Carrollton’s legacy of educating women leaders in the Sacred Heart tradition is evident in every aspect of its mission. From robust academic programs to opportunities in sports, arts, and community service, Carrollton provides an environment where young women are empowered to become confident learners, critical thinkers, and compassionate leaders.
Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart is more than a school; it’s a community of faith, intellect, and action, where students are prepared to thrive in college and beyond. Together, the Carrollton family carries forward a tradition of excellence that has shaped generations of women.
